Need Detailed Specialist Asset Surveying For Your Project?

Specialised Asset Surveys: Precision Data for Critical Infrastructure

Beyond standard land and buildings lie the critical infrastructure assets that keep our communities running. Civil Connect plc provides highly detailed Specialised Asset Surveys designed to capture the essential data you need to manage, maintain, and upgrade these complex systems effectively.

From surface water systems like culverts and gullies to foul networks and Combined Sewer Overflows (CSOs), we survey all aspects of your critical drainage infrastructure. We operate in challenging environments to deliver unparalleled clarity on the condition of your manholes, pipelines, and outfalls.

Our primary goal is to capture precise location, condition, connectivity, and dimensional data, transforming it into actionable intelligence for robust asset management and future-proof engineering.

Why Accurate Asset Data is Crucial

For water companies, local authorities, and Tier 1 contractors, precise asset data is the bedrock of operational excellence. Our surveys provide the vital information needed for:

Regulatory Compliance: Deliver robust, evidential data to meet the stringent requirements of regulatory bodies like the Environment Agency and Ofwat, particularly for CSO performance and environmental impact assessments.

Targeted Maintenance Planning: Move from a reactive to a proactive maintenance strategy by identifying defects and deterioration before they lead to costly failures or service disruptions.

Hydraulic Modelling: Provide engineers with accurate chamber dimensions, pipe connectivity, and invert levels essential for building reliable network models and planning capacity upgrades.

Risk Mitigation: Identify structural integrity issues or blockages that could lead to flooding, pollution events, or health and safety risks.

Expertise in Challenging Environments

Much of this critical infrastructure is located in difficult-to-access or hazardous areas. The Civil Connect plc team is what sets us apart.

Confined Space Certified: Our surveyors hold industry-leading certifications for confined space entry, equipped with the necessary safety equipment and procedural knowledge to operate safely and effectively.

Advanced Methodologies: We utilise a combination of CCTV, laser scanning, and traditional survey techniques to build a complete 3D picture of the asset, both internally and externally.

Risk-Focused Approach: Every project begins with a comprehensive risk assessment and method statement (RAMS) to ensure the safety of our team, your staff, and the general public.

Our expertise ensures that you get the data you need without compromising on safety or quality. Anonymised 3D point cloud model of a manhole chamber showing intricate pipe connections

From initial reconnaissance to final data handover, we are your trusted partner in understanding the true state of your underground assets. Contact us to discuss your specific infrastructure survey needs.

Our Technology & Process

We deliver certainty from the ground down. Our process is built on a foundation of meticulous planning, advanced technology, and unwavering commitment to safety, ensuring we capture actionable data from even the most challenging subsurface environments.

Desktop Study & Strategic Planning: Every project begins with a thorough review of existing asset data, GIS records, and historical information. We develop a detailed survey plan and a site-specific Risk Assessment and Method Statement (RAMS) to ensure all work is conducted safely and efficiently, with minimal disruption to the public.

Site Establishment & Data Acquisition: Our certified field teams establish a safe work zone in compliance with all NRSWA (New Roads and Streets Works Act) regulations. We then deploy a suite of advanced technology to capture a complete picture of your asset’s condition and performance:

High-Definition CCTV Crawlers: Pan-Tilt-Zoom (PTZ) cameras are guided through pipelines and culverts to capture crystal-clear visual data, identifying cracks, blockages, and defects. All inspections are carried out to OS19X and OS20X standards.

Laser Profiling & Sonar: In larger pipes or where flow cannot be stopped, we attach laser profilers and sonar units to our crawlers. This allows us to accurately measure pipe deformation, ovality, and quantify the volume of silt or debris, even below the water line.

Flow & Level Monitoring: For performance assessments, particularly on CSOs, we deploy calibrated sensors to log real-world data on flow rates, spill duration, and frequency over a set period.

GNSS/GPS Surveying: The precise surface location of every manhole, chamber, and key asset feature is recorded and tied to the Ordnance Survey National Grid.

Data Analysis & Quality Assurance: Raw data is transferred to our in-house technicians who meticulously review and analyse the findings. Using specialised software, they code all defects according to the industry-standard Manual of Sewer Condition Classification (MSCC5), ensuring the data is consistent, reliable, and ready for integration into your asset management systems.

Our Deliverables

We transform complex field data into clear, concise, and actionable intelligence. Your final deliverable package is tailored to your exact project requirements and can include:

Comprehensive Digital Survey Reports: Detailed PDF reports summarising the key findings for each asset, including condition grades, high-resolution photographs of significant defects, and clear recommendations for remedial action.

Industry-Standard WINCAN Data: We provide complete survey data packages in WINCAN format (or other industry software), allowing for seamless import into your existing asset management databases.

GIS-Ready Shapefiles: All surveyed assets are provided as GIS layers (e.g., Shapefiles), allowing you to drop the data directly into your corporate mapping systems to instantly update your records.

High-Definition Video Footage: Full, unedited video files from the CCTV inspection for your records and for detailed review by your engineering teams.

Accurate CAD Drawings: Precisely drafted 2D or 3D CAD drawings showing asset connectivity, invert levels, pipe sizes, and flow directions, perfect for hydraulic modelling and engineering design.
