ROV Inspection Services

Safeguarding Subsea Assets Without Compromise

Sectors We Serve

Precision ROV Underwater Inspections Without Risk

For critical infrastructure—from reservoir valves and bridge piers to industrial cooling systems—relying on guesswork is not an option. Civil Connect delivers Tier 1 ROV Inspection Services, providing precise, real-time data on the condition of your submerged assets without the safety risks or operational downtime associated with commercial diving.

We replace the “human in the water” with advanced Subsea ROV technology, allowing us to inspect hazardous, confined, or deep-water environments that are otherwise inaccessible.

The High Cost and Risk of Traditional Inspection

Traditional subsea inspection methods, heavily reliant on commercial divers, face significant challenges that can impact your budget, timeline, and safety record.

Inherent Safety Risks: Putting personnel into hazardous, low-visibility, confined, or deep-water environments always carries risk.

Costly Downtime: Assets like water storage tanks, reservoirs, or cooling intakes often must be drained or taken offline, halting your operations and resulting in significant lost revenue.

Operational Limits: Divers are limited by depth, water temperature, currents, and bottom time, restricting the scope and duration of any inspection.

Data Inconsistency: Data quality can be subjective and difficult to replicate, making year-over-year comparisons for degradation monitoring unreliable.

Specialist ROV Inspection Capabilities

We apply our technology to three specific critical infrastructure environments:

ROV Water Tank Inspection (Potable & Fire): We specialise in ROV tank inspection for drinking water assets. Our robots are strictly sanitized for potable water use, allowing us to inspect Service Reservoirs, Water Towers, and Fire Tanks while they remain online.

  • Zero Downtime: No need to drain the tank or interrupt supply.
  • Sediment Profiling: We map sediment levels and check internal lining conditions.
  • Leak Detection: Identification of structural cracks and joint failures.

Marine & Hull Inspection:
We provide rapid structural assessments for coastal, harbour, and vessel assets using Inspection Class ROV systems.

  • Quay Wall & Sheet Piling Surveys: Visual and ultrasonic assessment of steel corrosion and concrete spalling.
  • Bridge Scour Surveys: Using sonar to detect seabed erosion around bridge piers which can threaten structural stability.
  • ROV Hull Inspection: In-water surveys of vessels, floating plant, and pontoons.

ROV Pipeline Inspection & Tunnels:
Where a culvert is fully submerged or too long for standard CCTV crawlers, our ROVs utilise fibre-optic tethers to swim deep into the network.

  • Long-Range Tunnel Inspection: Inspecting cooling water intakes, outfalls, and hydro-electric tunnels.
  • Confined Space Elimination: Removing the need for dangerous man-entry into flooded pipes.

Advanced Diagnostic Capabilities (NDT & Sonar)

We go far beyond simple video. We deploy a fleet of ROVs equipped with sophisticated instrumentation to provide quantitative, engineering-grade data.

  • Ultrasonic Thickness (UT) Gauging: We use ROV-mounted probes to measure the remaining wall thickness of steel sheet piling and tanks to assess corrosion rates.

  • Sonar & Bathymetric Mapping: In low-visibility “black water,” we utilize multi-beam sonar to create 3D acoustic images of the asset and the surrounding riverbed/seabed.

  • Cathodic Protection (CP) Surveys: Quantifying the effectiveness of anti-corrosion anodes on offshore structures and pipelines.

3D Modeling & Scour Assessment

Understanding the environment around your asset is as important as the asset itself. Using integrated multi-beam sonar and advanced photogrammetry, we create highly accurate, geolocated 3D models of subsea features.

This allows us to:

  • Precisely measure and map scour (erosion) and deposition around bridge piers, foundations, and pipelines.
  • Create detailed “digital twins” of your assets for pre- and post-construction surveys.
  • Quantify debris fields and characterize seabed conditions before installation projects.

Precision Navigation & Defect Mapping

Finding a defect is only half the battle; you must be able to find it again. Our systems use advanced Dynamic Positioning (DP) and sonar navigation (like USBL) to ensure that every defect, measurement, and point of interest is mapped and recorded with sub-centimeter accuracy for future monitoring, trend analysis, and remediation planning.

Applications Across Critical Industries

Our services provide essential data to asset owners, operators, and engineering firms across a wide range of sectors:

Energy & Offshore: Offshore wind foundations, platform jackets, risers, subsea pipelines, mooring systems, and FPSO/FSO hulls.

Ports & Marine Terminals: Wharf structures, sheet piling, quay walls, dolphins, and berthing infrastructure.

Civil & Infrastructure: Bridge piers, abutments, dam faces, underwater tunnels, and river crossings.

Industrial & Utilities: Potable water storage tanks (AWWA compliance), fire water tanks, cooling water intakes, outfalls, and traveling screens.

Our Inspection Process: From Planning to Report

Discovery & Planning: We work closely with your team to understand the asset, define clear inspection goals, and develop a safe, site-specific operational plan.

Deployment & Execution: Our certified ROV pilots and technicians deploy from our specialised vessel, your platform, or the shore, executing the inspection plan efficiently and safely.

Real-Time Data Review: You and your engineers can monitor the high-definition video feed live from the control station, allowing for immediate feedback and dynamic adjustment of the inspection scope.

Comprehensive Reporting: Within days, we deliver a detailed final report containing all visual evidence (video and stills), NDT data, 3D models, and a clear engineering assessment of our findings, giving you the actionable intelligence you need.
